I Sat by the Window

I sat by the window
Hoping to catch a glimpse of your shadow
You left me with no more than a goodbye
You went your way despite my sigh

Beneath the light of the moon
I have hoped to see you soon
As tears rolled down my eyes
I tried to bid my last goodbyes

But I can't let you go
I can't let my love leave me
You have been my life
but you brought me nothing but strife

My heart loved you secretly
but my mind a bit reluctantly
For I know you love someone else
Still I ask myself why can't our love be

I gave you my full attention
I showered you with love and affection
But you still longed for someone
and I know its not me

I am imprisoned in my own sorrow
If only I can borrow a better tomorrow
A life with you is what I want
but I know it is impossible, it simply can't

Now everything has been said and done
I noticed that you have long been gone
I sat by the window, I am waiting still
To catch a glimpse of your shadow by my window sill
